The Next Unique Challenge for Oarsmen

In 1999, Jock Wishart and Malcolm Knight led a team of rowers who successfully broke the record for rowing from Westminster Bridge to the Eiffel Tower. This was the inspiration behind the London 2 Paris Rowing Challenge.

In this exacting challenge, you will row down the Thames from Westminster Bridge (Big Ben) in London, across the Channel and up the Seine to Pont D’Iena (Eiffel Tower). This is a distance of approximately 420 nautical miles (equivalent to 485 statute miles).

Each team consists of twelve oarsmen, with up to seven in the boat at any one time (six rowers and one cox).  The boats are matched Thames Watermen's Cutters, fixed seat boats that are suitable for the challenges of rowing in the open sea.
